In the beginning, after being influenced through the shadows she observed in the grasses of trees and the shadows she saw on the trees, she set out to develop a technique which does not portray the subject in a 2-dimensional picture. The object has been transformed into the artist's own image, and the surface takes an interpretation by the artist. It is most effective when dealing with living objects as well as items that have a shelf life like fruits and people. Because the photography and painting methods are closely coordinated and result in the trompe-l'oeil effect where it appears as if three dimensions is only visible at certain points, such as the eye area or hair. Meade is also able to integrate her painted models within the space of 3D that surrounds the models. The interaction between them and this created world is possible. Thus, the boundary between photography and painting is dissolved.
