Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, is a singer-songwriter and Canadian American. She has released many studio records. DiFranco's music is classified as alternative rock, folk rock but she also draws influences of jazz and hip-hop. Ani DiFranco was the very first artist to launch her own record label in the year 1990. Ani is widely considered to be a feminist icon. DiFranco was born in Buffalo New York on September 23rd, 1970. She was the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross) and Dante Americo DiFranco The couple had been in contact while at an institution called the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian descent and her mother came from Montreal. Ani Difrasco wrote and recorded the track "32 Flavors". This song was released on DiFranco's 1995 sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl. Another version of the song is featured on the movie soundtrack of 1999's Canadian romance film Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologized when it was announced that she would be hosting a three-day workshop at an old Louisiana slave plantation. The course was later cancelled yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco apologized again a few days afterwards. Although she is best known by the name of Little Folksinger, her music encompasses many different genres. The collaborators she has with her include Pete Seeger and Chuck D to Prince. Her home is New Orleans. Ani has the name Kristen Ford. When she was 14, she had begun singing her own tunes. She continued to perform them in bar and cafes throughout her teenage years. DiFranco went to Buffalo State College after graduating aged 16 from the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
